What is ntop?...
ntop is a network management tool.
Flowing past your computer on the network wire is a wealth of information
about your network - whether you're a large Enterprise, Small/Medium Business,
Home user or even an ISP. If you have access to the right wire, you can do this
for the entire enterprise!

Don't kid yourself - this isn't secret information - it's right there on the wire
under your desk or going out to your ISP. But if you were to just look at it,
as a stream of bits, you couldn't make heads or tails of it. Even with a
"packet sniffer" type tool, you couldn't answer the questions above.
ntop is the tool that takes that stream of bits, understands it and presents
that information to you.
